Bay City 4-1 in league, second to Mustangs

The Blackcats executed for two wins this week, improving to 4-1 in district as they closed out the first of three rounds of league play.
BC (12-7, 4-1) made short work of Terry on Tuesday, winning 11-1 over the last-place team.
Travis Tomek (3-2) pitched six innings with 10 strikeouts and four hits. A.J. Flores came on in the seventh.
D.J. Dominguez hit 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and five RBIs. Derek Montgomery was 3-for-3 with one RBI and Shaun Rutherford hit 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Cats squeezed past Foster 6-5 to hold onto second place. The Falcons fell to 3-2 after the loss.
Foster led it early on with a single run in the top of the second.
Bay City tied it with one in the third and didn’t claim a lead until they plated another lone run in the fifth inning.
Foster claimed a 5-2 edge with four runs in the top of the sixth, but the Cats answered to tie it up again with three in the bottom of the frame.
Bay City scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to keep it out of overtime.
Zach Benson (3-1) picked up the win after taking the mound in the sixth. Rutherford started for Bay City and gave up five runs.
The Blackcats will play one team a week, alternating sites, for the next five weeks.
