Selected as a recipient of the 2008-2009 State Farm® Texas Scholar Athlete program scholarship, Travis is currently ranked seventh in a class of 278 students and is a member of the Bay CityHigh School baseball and football teams.In addition to taking the most rigorous curriculum available at Bay CityHigh School to include many dual-credit, pre-AP and AP courses, Travis’ academic accomplishments include induction into the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.A four-year starter in the outfield for the Bay CityHigh School baseball team, Travis also earned All-District Honors in 2007 as a starting pitcher and has won three playoff games as pitcher during his career.Additionally, he is the team captain and a three-year starter for the Blackcat football team; starting in the defensive secondary his sophomore and junior seasons and earning the starting quarterback role in 2008. Off the field, he is a three-year member of Interact (current president), two-year member of the National Honor Society (current president), four-year member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, three-year member of the Pure Love Club, two-year member of Teens for Humanity, and a current member of the Matagorda Hospital District Student Governing Board.Outside of school, he is a member of the Lifeteen Youth Group and is active in numerous volunteer activities, such as: VacationBibleSchool (elementary aide), the Rice Festival Exceptional Kids Day, the Junior Service League Charity Ball, the EDGE Student Mentor Program, and the Holy Cross Fall Festival Dinner.Upon graduation, Travis plans to attend medical school at either Texas A&M University or Baylor University with the goal becoming a family practitioner. At some point in his career, he would like to do missionary work while continuing to be active in his local church.
