On Tuesday, January 13, 2009, Bay City High School Senior Travis Tomek accepted a $1000 Scholar Athlete Award from C.V. McKelvy of State Farm Insurance at the Bay City Rotary Club meeting. Bay City High School coaches present to help him accept this award were Bink Grimes and Justin Taylor. Also present were BCHS counselor, Shelly Grimes, and Travis' family, Gregg, Cindy, and his younger brother, Brandon.
In addition, Travis accepted an award from Bay City High School Coach Justin Taylor (on behalf of Coach Robert Blackmon) for being named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All State Team.
