Travis had the honor of being presented with the Andrew Smith, Jr. Blackcat Fight Heart Award at the All-Sports Banquet last Monday, May 4, 2009. Andrew Smith was an awesome individual with a strong sense of leadership, great character and a big heart. Smith led the Blackcats to a state championship season in 2000 and, while playing on scholarship, took UNT's Mean Green to an undefeated conference title and New Orleans Bowl victory as a redshirt freshman. Smith passed for 1,206 yards that season and led the team to a 24-19 win over Cincinnati in the team's first bowl victory since 1946.
